6 Things to Weaken the Negativity Power

This month’s content will be explaining about emotional reasoning.

What is emotional reasoning? Is it dangerous if we keep doing it for a lifetime?

Emotional-Reasoning

Emotional reasoning is a powerful emotional reaction that leads us to think something is true based on our emotions, even though the evidence proves otherwise. Prioritizing feelings into practice to decide something, as fortune telling does, and jumping to conclusions without clear evidence, could lead your “hot thoughts” to become uncontrollable. This behaviour also contributes to panic disorder if you keep it unsolved for a long time.

For example, you feel fat when people around you tell you that your weight is average. You know that your body weight is at a moderate level. However, you are still sure that you are fat.

What is the cause?

It usually starts from traumatic events in the past. Still, instead of healing from those past painful experiences, those people become more cautious and sensitive to current situations that might resemble that past. Trauma is not the only trigger of this behaviour. The feeling of being rejected, unwanted, or unvalued might also be the other trigger to this kind of behaviour.

All the things ingrained in each of us usually already happen beyond years. Believe it or not, sometimes what we remember is distorted, meaning it might not be the exact feeling we experienced.

A traumatic past belongs to your younger self. And it shouldn’t be affecting you that much in the present day. It just doesn’t make sense when you let your hatred feelings linger and decide your future. Life belongs to the present, you need to be in charge of your life, and it’s a matter of will and motivation.

How to deal with it? I will give you 6 methods that hopefully can help put your negativity on the back seat of your journey.

FIRST

Before the negative talks inside your mind become too noisy, your rationalism needs to take charge by slowing down the thoughts. Don’t let all those negativities do all the talking inside. What you are feeling doesn’t always have to define reality.

Try not to obsess with the negative voice in your head.

I understand that we can’t get away from negativity or shut our head’s voices forever.

But you have the power to choose. You can start by filtering out the people in your life, driving yourself away from toxic people. Choosing occasion and focusing your energy and time to do things that make you feel good.

And stop begging for the other’s acceptance.

You might feel dejected or sad if you think you failed at something. It’s okay. It’s normal. But don’t drown in it for too long. It would be best if you mustered your courage to make another attempt or take a different way to start it.

SECOND

Retrace your past & Practice balance thoughts

  • Realize what the ground line that makes you feel that way is.
  • Reevaluate your emotions and thoughts and figure out how you interpret things.
  • Are you often interpreting something based on reality or based on your judgment?

Sometimes our emotions cloud our judgments when related to something that makes us feel sensitive about it. You should know that the feelings spike in a particular situation when you get triggered. Recognize them. Your imagination can often feel very real. That’s why you mustn’t do things that make you regret them.

THIRD

Understand that your feelings aren’t representative of your self-worth

You can practice the double standard method

When your project doesn’t seem to progress, you think you are responsible for that. I’m sure it’s hard for you to blame yourself like that. Still, I want you to know that the intensity of negative judgment you give to yourself is crueller sometimes than any other judgment. High tension, emotions, and feeling overwhelmed make you grounded, overly incapable, and guilty. So, stop doing that. It’s just too wrong and too unfair for you. You don’t need to be responsible for everything. You know that you already put in the best effort to do those projects.

You are deserved to be treated well by yourselves and by others. Other people aren’t always staying with you, but it’s different with your mind, body, and soul. So, take good care of it, and embrace it.

Your future is not hopeless, and your current life is not terrible.

FORTH

Try to reenact your problems to people around you, and if they told the same story to you, what would be your advice and suggestion that you would give to them?

FIFTH

“and” method

The “And’ method is the other way to deal with this negativity trigger inside your head. In this practice, you are asked to stretch your sentences. It means that you are combining negative words and positive ones.

How’s it going to benefit you?

SIXTH

It will help you regain ultimate control of your mind. Also, it allows you to get along with positivity as well. And you can boost your optimism, elevate how you see and value yourself, and improve your creativity simultaneously.

Sing the thought.

Does it seem weird to you? When I first read this, I wondered, “what does that even mean?” “How can I sing the thought?” “Am I should write lyrics?”

More specifically, you are making fun of the negative thoughts inside by talking it out with a weird sound effect.

This method can weaken the negative power in you. You will think of negativity as a joke when it sneaks in.

Maybe you should give the negativity inside your mind a name, I know we can never get rid of it entirely, but we need to make them sit quietly in the back and not take the driver’s seat. They can follow along, but they shouldn’t take charge, and they are not permitted to participate in deciding which destination we would like to pursue. In simple words, ghost them.

After all the methods I gave you on the list above, it can’t cure you at the speed of light. It would help you need to be patient, it takes time, and you need to realize and believe that your lousy prophecy will not happen. Your mental health is a crucial thing for you. When things get extremely tough, zoom out from your perspective. Maybe you were zooming it in too much, stressing you out for realizing all the voices and something that not everyone recognizes.

Remember, you hold the ultimate control of your body and have the power to change it. I hope your negativity is not there to drag or drown you down but to know that it exists. You are what you choose and believe in becoming. You are served for a better purpose, and you are a beautiful soul.

Thanks for reading this article until the end. I appreciate it 🙂
