03 Interpersonal Sync

The third content for the 1Min section. This article is about how friendships affect our brains (Shannon Odell). Let’s dive into it.

Why do children in the teenage period spend most of their time with their friends?
It’s because there is a transition in their brain reward centre.

Teenagers are more interested in social interactions, and they manage to create a deeper connection at these ages. The deeper connection is their ability to sympathize and empathize with others’ emotions, thoughts, motivations, and points of view.

When teenagers can understand their friend’s perspectives, that will be the time for them to be open and engage in a deeper level of connection.

And to prove this fact,
You might often see it in your real life. Your teenage child with very close friends might develop interpersonal synchrony without planning.

That’s why they enjoy hanging out with their friends more. 🙂

That’s all for the third episode of the 1Min section. Hope you learn something 🙂
