Every minute, hour, and day in our lives, we tend to keep and pursue things to keep ourselves busy to the point of exhaustion. As a popular term mentioned, “you only lived once,” to be honest, what we gotta do with our one and only life is to have more fun.
Our definition of having ‘fun’ sometimes clashes with the real definition of being fun. Having fun is not just merely a lighthearted pleasure.
Price said in her speech that “fun is the secret of feeling alive, and it’s not a definition that we tight in an activity. Instead, it should be a feeling.
The ultimate definition of having fun is having a sense of lightness and joy. In simple words, it’s the combination of playfulness, connection, and flow.
To describe each of the points,
Playfulness is when you are doing something for the sake of doing it, letting go of perfectionism, and pursuing it all the way without caring about the outcome.
A connection has a special and shared experience with yourself, the people around you, or your environment.
Flow is when you are engraved and overly focused on something until you lose track of time.
Feeling this feeling energizes you and also about being present. As we already recognized and realized, people in a “fun state” tend to create a strong bond with one another and are united. As those people joined, they usually didn’t pick out the differences they had between them, and they just connected as human beings. Not only that, but it could also make us healthier.
How do we pursue “fun”?
Let yourself focus on its ingredients. Fill out your life with more playfulness, connection, and flow moments.
To break down it a bit,
- Reduce distractions to improve the flow.
- Interact with another human being and be engaged in a real-life connection to increase the bond.
- Find opportunities to rebel in a good way to increase playfulness. Making your “fun” to be your priority is not wrong. It’s wise, and it’s needed.
