Throughout our life, we have encountered many things that we need to be flexible. Sometimes we also feel the need to force ourselves to adapt to others’ expectations without realizing that we lost our truest selves. But here are five things we shouldn’t neglect, let others dictate, or in simpler words, things we need to take control over.
Your values
Your values will determine better choices for you. Let your values guide you to the right decision. Just like what a compass does, you can’t change the north, east, west, and south.
How do you know when you already find your value?
People often get lost and find themselves confused with their values and goals. A goal is something that you achieve, your destination. In contrast, values are just the road and the overall process.
Values are not up for sale and are non-negotiable. When you find your values can be negotiated, then it’s not your values. Values are like a part of your identity.
Your health
How many of us want to enjoy our teenage and early adults day? We want everything to be fast-served, and you also know how vital our health is, whether physical or mental.
Health plays a significant role in our wealth.

What is the use if we are sick when we have a lot of money?
By being healthy, we are preventing other issues. Health is not only about sleeping and eating. It’s more than that. It includes your nutrition, exercise, getting yourself a healthy circle, give yourself to adapt and reflect.
When you get an option in which you need to risk your health to go in the opposite direction from how your body works, you should carefully think about it.
Your life
We have our life, and people have theirs. In this buzzing society where people must share many things, we must have our comfort zone. Space and time dedicated to you to be your most authentic self are needed.
When writing this section, I can say that I’ve exiled myself somewhere to restore and improve my mental health and well-being. Tbh, even though I’m alone, I enjoy my solitude.
No one should take control of your life. If you must respect their time, those people should also respect and accept when you need yours.
Your decision
I know it sounds like a rock-headed guy only to let yourself decide something. But, in this section, I want to relay that you should allow yourself to make your own decision. You can receive people’s opinions or want to get alternatives, or have something to brainstorm with yourself, but you should have a sense of ownership over your life.
When you take control over your decision, you need to bear any consequences. You should know what things you can negotiate and what you cannot.
Letting yourself take ownership of these five things will help you to respect your life more and enjoy life to the fullest.
Our precious supporter
As I mentioned in number 2, we need to have a healthy circle and keep our distance from the ones who could likely disappoint us or have the most significant risk of bringing us to the negative side.
Value your relationships, and be with the ones who can acknowledge your progress. Avoid the harmful type of relationships that can break the relationships you have with your precious people.
