29 The Art of Practicing One Simple Word “Liberosis”

Have you ever heard the word of Liberosis? If you haven’t, then we are pretty much the same, since I never heard about this word before I started writing it.

Liberosis means the desire to care less, or in a modern sentence means the art of not giving a f**k about everything. As a human being, we often overthink something until we can’t sleep or even breathe properly. Why is that? It’s because we’re overly focused on that one particular thing and we believe it has a massive impact on our lives.

We often overly zoom in on every problem which leads us to stuff our head for unnecessary things. When we become too focused on something, we tend to forget and neglect the other things.

We need to distinguish and separate which things that deserve our focus and time and which ones aren’t. We can start by doing a ‘me-search‘ to get to know ourselves deeper, not only picking out the best qualities but also our problematic qualities. According to an article in Psychology Today, putting extra stress inside our head by wanting to know everything will only decrease the possibility of achieving our best state.

We live for our own sake. If we don’t satisfy someone, it’s okay it’s their problem.

Liberosis doesn’t mean that we need to stop caring. It just reduces the effort to care. Just like a statement in a book called The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F**k, “we should care about the right things within the right amounts.”

The actionable step of practising this is to spend less effort and energy on abstract things, and put more energy in order solving concrete problems.

So, let us not keep repeating the same mistake over and over again, I believe it’s hard for us to control what can we feel and what should we process, but what we can do is consume fewer unnecessary things and start using our energy for a greater thing. We have the control to choose what we want to think and put our noses in. We don’t need to know and think about everything that isn’t right for us.

The 2nd thing is we need to understand that we’re not responsible for everything. It doesn’t mean that we should become irresponsible people, know the difference.

In other words, let’s focus on truly matter things.
